Stepping on Flowers premiered May 4, 2021 at IU Contemporary Dance.

Focusing on creating a safe and good environment for my dancers to work and thrive in. Inter and intrapersonal reflections rather than creating a spectacle of dance. Each dancer has their own thoughts and narratives about stepping on flowers and its meaning, individual but existing within a space together that they create together and could only create together.

The phrase originated during the immediate period after the Atlanta shooting at the spa. The dance is not about that but this event, these people, weighed heavily on my mind as I lived life and created dance. I want to be honest about that.
May they find their way to their ancestors and rest.
