About Wack-Fem

Wack-Fem was a duet created in the early months of 2020 in collaboration with Corinne Jones. It was presented at a student show at Indiana University, Bloomington. Girlhood fantasy and grisly reality merge in this dreamscape that explores femininity, metamorphosis, and what exactly counts as "wacky." With bombastic sequences and stripped down vulnerability what does it mean to grow up with this idea of femininity? Wack-Fem was an experimental piece with large parts improvised and audience interaction encouraged.

The most defined elements were the the two characters, Alice and the Beast. Through a series of non-linear vignettes the two explore growing up, dressing up, and the expectations that come all while being observed by an audience. Set in an intimate venue, the observers became the duo's private audience as they performed their ideas of ideal femininity. Does it exist? Is it wacky or is it best to be wacky?
